"The 8 Campaign" is a guerrilla art initiative conceived by artist Tomer Peretz, and activists Andrea Brown, and Angelica Lauriano to spotlight the plight of eight American hostages who have been in captivity since October 7th.
Recognizing that many awareness campaigns often remain within their own echo chambers, we aim to break through and bring these individuals' names to widespread attention in Los Angeles.
Our approach involves disseminating their names without logos, signatures, websites, or QR codes- just the names themselves.
Utilizing consistent design, colors, and fonts across thousands of posters,
murals, art installations, stickers, merchandise, and more, our goal is for
every American to become familiar with these names:
OMER
KEITH
HERSH
SAGUI
EDAN
GADI
JUDY
ITAY
Every American should know about the 8 compatriots abducted on October 7th by Hamas, the inadequate efforts to secure their return and their ongoing captivity. We firmly believe that awareness of the plight of the eight hostages can and should transcend borders.
The 8 Campaign intends to begin conversations by inspiring curiosity. It is through widespread acknowledgment and personal inquiry that we can foster genuine empathy and mobilize collective action on a global scale. FREE OUR HOSTAGES NOW!
What started as a clothing collaboration with Tomer Peretz and the duo behind FREE OUR HOSTAGES, Andrea Brown and Angelica Lauriano, evolved into the 8 Campaign. A couple meetings in, we quickly realized we shared a common goal - to keep the NAMES of the American hostages at the forefront of everything we do.
The 8 Campaign got its name due to the synchronicity of the number 8. Not only are there 8 American hostages still in Gaza, but the 8th of October is also the day when Israelis had to begin to rebuild their shattered lives. The number 8, when placed on its side, resembles the infinity symbol, a testament to our enduring fight to bring every hostage home.
